Jenola Caves 02-03-03

It certainly was a great day but sadly not many turned out to enjoy the great weather and the good company.

Frosty turned up at Maccas Auburn with me waiting there and no one else. By the time 8:45 came around we figgured no one else was coming so we headed onto the M4 to meet King & Princess at Blaxland Maccas - And again, no one else turned up.

Anyway, we left there around 10:15 with little traffic, windy roads and past a LOT of works on the Great Western Highway that will certainly make it a quick run over the mountains one day. (But Lawson seems destined to be the bottleneck forever!)

Princess led us into Jenolan Caves throught the quite treacherous (single lane) twisties with a speed that surprised us all - something she would continue to do all day. <g> Well done, Mirella - doing great!

The roar of our (ok, my) pipes under the great arch was very cool. <bg> There were a few other tricked out Harleys there too and seemed to be a favourite for many bikers as we certainly passed a lot of them there and back.

We only *just* missed out on a short cave tour as we got there by 11:45 which was good time. Next time we'll have to not take so many stops on the way there. <g>

Lunch was nice (albiet pricey) then I took a short walk (and got lost) up to the Charlotta Arch which I had not done before. Man, I have to give up the smokes!!! :(

The ride back was very cool with a stop at a pair fo those big "wind farm" generators. Man, are those sucker BIG and the sound of the 25m propellors swishing around!!!

We then had a round of bike swapping, each of us taking the others for a spin. The power increase in my bike was appreciated in my bike, the nimble effortlessness of Frosty's bike was amazed at, and the smooth power of the Royal was marvelled. Only problem was that my bike did a "Bazza" and dropped a footpeg - found, luckily. I really have to go over my bike with some Loctite. <g>

Then through Lithgow, Bell and a last stop at the Bilpin Apple Basket for a quick coffee before saying good-bye to King and Princess and then Frosty and I took a shortcut through Freemans Reach, hit traffic at Windsor (as usual) and home to my place for him to pick up my unused stock mirrors - now sitting proudly on his bars.

Really, with weather as good as we had and a nice shortish ride like we had planned, it's really is criminal not to take our sweet rides out for a stretch of their legs.

See you all next time.
