A lot of questions pop up that usually ask the same thing, "I am going to buy a V Star . . . should I get the 650 or the 1100?" The responses typically end up saying either one is the right one. The 650 V Stars and the 1100s are beautiful motorcycles by any standard. This year's 1100 Classic has generated huge interest in the V Star line. I own the 650 Classic. I would take the two tone 1100 Classic in a minute. Why, because I love the paint scheme. I don't feel the need for the 1100cc engine for myself. The only thing lacking is more color choices here in the U.S. The European Drag Stars have some really nice colors. Too bad they are not available here. I logged onto the Yamaha Europe site to see the colors available and was amazed to see the in Europe that Yamaha offers a Drag Star 125. You have asked yourself "Whatever is this about? What purpose does a 125-cc cruiser serve?" Well, apparently in some European countries a licensed automobile driver can ride a motorcycle under 125cc's without a motorcycle license. This 125 cc Drag Star is a full sized cruiser. (See specs below) It has a twin cylinder engine and a line of accessories. I wonder how it would be received in the US market? Perhaps the members in Europe can provide more information about this diminutive cruiser. Is it selling well in Europe or is it a marketing blunder? Now I have to wonder about the 400cc V Star marketed in Japan. Perhaps when Yamaha announces their 2001 models this months we will see these other versions.
